About us
Books 4 Life Tilburg is a second-hand bookshop with books that are donated by private individuals. The books are sold both in-store and online at very affordable prices. The proceeds go to charity.
We are part of a chain of six second-hand bookstores. All stores are run entirely by volunteers who share a common love for books. Our books are of good quality and are classified into various genres: novels, thrillers, fantasy, textbooks, and a lot of informative books about art, history, travel, cooking, and more.
Although our store is located on the Tilburg University campus, we are independent of the university.
By purchasing our books, you support a good cause, give a good book a second life, and – just as importantly – you provide yourself or someone else with great reading pleasure!
Online sales
Almost all books in the store can also be found in our webshop. If you are looking for a specific book, you may wish to consult the webshop first before visiting the store.
We also sell some 1100 second-hand books on Bol. These books, which are generally in very good condition, are available exclusively online and are not in our physical store or webshop. Books sold via Bol. fall into a higher price range (starting from approximately €17.50).
Book donations
We depend on book donations to maintain our stock of second-hand books. All types of books are welcome: (literary) novels, English-language books, thrillers, fantasy, poetry, children’s books, textbooks, art books, travel guides, philosophy, history, and other informative books.
Books must be in good condition. If you are unsure whether your books are suitable for donation, you can ask yourself: ‘Would I buy this book myself?’. If you have any doubts, please feel free to contact us. You can drop off your books at the shop during opening hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00 to 17:00).
Charity
Books 4 Life donates at least 90% of its net profits to charitable causes every year. 40% is allocated to national organizations (Amnesty International, Oxfam Novib, Armoede Fonds) while the remaining 60% is distributed among local initiatives (Stichting Poels, Stichting Yayasan Setetes Embun). The charitable causes focus on promoting human rights or tackling poverty.
